Hotel Spotlight: Rawah Guest Ranch

Resting at 8,400 feet just south of the Colorado-Wyoming border, Rawah Guest Ranch is an authentic all-inclusive western dude ranch that occupies a beautiful spot in the practically undiscovered Laramie River Valley. Established in 1948 not as a cattle ranch, but as a place for visitors to stay in comfortable accommodations, enjoy hearty meals, and take in the beauty of the surrounding wilderness, Rawah Ranch upholds this same vision today by welcoming guests from around the world to its historic mountain escape.

Immerse yourself in the solace of the old west in one of the property's ten luxurious guest cabins. Each beautifully appointed cabin boasts cozy features to make guests feel right at home.

Cowboys is a spacious, high-ceilinged master suite cabin accompanied by a private bath, cozy sitting area and your own wood stove. Guests will enjoy being tucked among the aspens along the banks of the Big Laramie River where moose come to visit most mornings.

Ranch House West

The West Ranch House king suite boasts a second bedroom with two lovely twin beds, and private bath. Connected to the Little Ranch House, this cabin is very suitable for a small family or group of friends, and located close to the main lodge. The West Ranch House is an ADA handicapped compatible cabin for folks with special needs.

What To Do

Each day at Rawah offers authentic western activities for adventurers of all ages. Guests may choose their morning and afternoon activities from a multitude of fun-filled options including but not limited to the following
Saddle up and ride through thousands of acres of pristine and protected high-country Colorado wilderness, past towering waterfalls and through aspen groves into peaceful mountain valleys.

Practice your marksmanship with professional instruction at the on-property shooting and archery ranges.

Try your hand at fly-fishing on Rawah’s on-property private stretch of the legendary Big Laramie River. Popular targeted species include rainbow, brown and brook trout.

Embark on a sunset driving safari in search of the Rawah Wilderness’s most famous residents: moose, antelope, elk, bald eagles and more.

Set off on a hike into the Rawah Wilderness or Roosevelt National Forest right from the ranch. Various trail options provide a challenge for all fitness levels along with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountain and Medicine Bow ranges.

Off-property rafting adventures on the nearby Cache La Poudre river can also be arranged. Ranging from mild to wild, these trips are perfect for younger families and adrenaline-seekers alike.

How To Get There

Most guests choose to fly in to Denver International Airport and rent a car for the picturesque 3-hour drive to the ranch. Alternatively, private transfer services can be arranged.

Either way, guests can stop to enjoy various points of interest along the route, including scenic Rocky Mountain lookouts, brief trail hikes and vibrant craft breweries and restaurants.
